My chicks have left the building!

So my hubby got me 10 EEs and 5 Barred Rock pullets from Cackle Hatchery. They ship out today and I just got my tracking info.

Praying and fingers crossed that my babies have a safe and QUICK trip. Lord please let my chicks get here safely with no delays or harm to them.

I've never ordered chicks through the mail and I admit I'm a nervous wreck. I'm trying not to read any "bad stories" and only focus on good thoughts. I know I have to be prepared for anything when it comes to shipping chicks, but man oh man! I haven't even met these babies yet and I'm already in love with them.

I'm just grateful I have y'all to vent to and fret about it with...I think I've talked poor DHs ear off about these chicks the past 2 days.

So if you're the praying type, please feel free to say a quick one for my chickies on their ride from Missouri to California.Thanks!

Call your local post office and let them know you are expecting live chicks and ask them to hold the box there when they arrive and to call you so you can go pick them up.

I've never shipped chicks but I'm sure that they'll be fine. I've never had any Barred Rocks, but I absolutely love EE's!

I will definitely be calling my PO to alert them to my incoming chicks. I want them to call me AS SOON as they get in the parking lot. I don't care if it's 2am! Lol!

I also ordered birds through the mail for the first time and I share your anxiety! I've heard so many horror stories about things going wrong, mainly due to errors at the post office but the closer I get to their delivery date the more optimistic I feel!

5 of my chicks I ordered from My Pet chicken this past May. I'd ordered 6 but 1 bantam was DOA. I think the other ones crushed her . The other bantam was pretty weak on arrival so I called the company and they suggested sugar water and she perked right up! She's now the bully to the big girls The rest are doing amazing, healthy and happy. I hope yours arrive safe and sound. I bet you can't wait

Okay here's what you need to do .these chicks are going to be traveling through hot weather. they are going to be travel stressed when they get to you. go to Tractor Supply or your local feed store and get a small bottle of Bovidr Labs Poultry Nutri -Drench. I've use this product for over 15 years on my Collies and my poultry. it's exceptional. all natural . When the chicks arrive ,give each chick one drop only by mouth . If the chick is needy, repeat as needed every 8 to 10 hours until the chick is perky. then put a half a teaspoon in each quart water . do this Drench water for the first week the birds are at your house.

Awesome! Wow PND sounds like pretty amazing stuff. I will definitely be investing in a big bottle for my animal first aid kit.
