Things Mom used to say...(or your Dad)

Sweating like a pig at hog killing time.

Not worth a pinch of snuff in a windstorm.

What are we going to do?
Open a keg of nails.

Or in the middle of a hot summer
Crows in the road. It's going to snow.

Ok, I have to ask... what the heck does the second one mean??

She'd say that when she wanted us to redo something. Basically it wasn't right, do it again.

We grew up raising cows.

"Get on that horse, you`re burning daylight!"

"If you don`t have anything nice to say, don`t say it."

"We`ll get there when we get there!"

"Less talk, more work."

Reminds me of another thing mom said: "You pay for your raising"

Meaning when you have kids, all you go through with them pays for what your folks went through. She said that a LOT raising us four!

"I'll give you something to cry about"
(she would too... )

"Grinnin like a skunk in a briar patch"

"Better than chicken spit on a skittle"

"Just you wait.. someday you'll have a dozen kids just like you.. then you'll see what I had to deal with"
(that was her curse on me.. fooled her though.. never had any kids and never will)

ok.. so she was a bit odd...... I know there's more... I'll think of them eventually
