Things you never said until you had chickens.......

my first Pug was so smart it was scary!  she knew lots of human words and could "howl" out things that sounded just "I love you", "where were you" and her own name, minus the "C" her name was Clara, and she could howl "Lara!"  she knew all her toys by name, and she had over a dozen...
she adored my friends daughter so she would go nuts at the mere mention of her name... same with another friends dog, Zeefus... if you said "Zeefus!" omg... she would howl and howl...
my next Pug was a dum-dum... she didn't make a peep, no matter how hard I trained her to "speak"
my current Pug, is inbetween the 2.  not too smart, but not dumb by a long shot.  she can spell
R-I-D-E, and stars forbid you say "GO"... because "go" goes with R-I-D-E....

Oh yes! The forbidden GO! And "FOR" Is also off limits Oh those dogs.. They love to GO FOR A RIDE.

mine's not happy on a r-i-d-e unless she can drive.

I'm not going to test the "hello" theory til later... i have company coming tonight to watch "Once Upon a Time" but I know she goes ballistic at the front door if anyone makes a knocking sound anywhere in the house...

Same with mine. If you mention a name of a person that visits (i.e.: dad, Kyle, Dylan, etc..) he automatically perks his ears up and barks. He's really funny.

I didn't have to train this dog at all. He's self taught. Love my little man

aoxa, that is so cool... my Ruby didn't need much training, she's really good, but I drilled it into her head to "come" bc my last Pug, the sweet little dum dum never learned that and as a result... she was clipped by a car and died. i felt dreadful. Ruby is PERFECT with "come"
now... I call her food "nosh", and there is a new deli in Albany called... Nosh... lol, so my fiance, who never heard of "nosh" before meeting me (???) saw the new spot and was really excited to tell me about it, well... you can't say "nosh" around Ruby and now he knows that too

I like how you call the food nosh I call water - thirsties. My boy doesn't like to eat unless you are watching him do so. He likes to be praised

Also, he is a small little corgi mix - and is a big help around here! MY LGD in training barks to tell us if something is there that isn't supposed to be, and Koda will go to the rescue. There was a stray beagle - and Koda tackled it because we couldn't catch it. Better believe he got a big bone that night! As well as Clementine!

The way we communicate with our dogs is funny. We must look crazy.
