Things you wish you could say

It's where you're a little kid, and in a competition. Little kids will get upset if they lose, so every kid will get a little trophy, ribbon, etc to make them feel like they won. I had thought that this stopped at age 6, apparently not.
Most kids would prefer candy. Some parents like that everyone gets a trophy while others cringe.

Oh, good grief... that's not really encouraging self-improvement in the field. They're kids, I get it, but... come on.

At that age I didn't care about self improvement lol
I think that there's a time and place for them
that place is NOT above age 6
Hm, fair point.
I meant self-improvement less as a "find your faults and fix them," thing and more as a, "you can get this thing that you want if you do well and work hard to learn," thing.

I think that it's more about not having kids see other kids winning when they aren't. I'm not sure when you develop the ability to rationally think about things like that lol

... I sometimes forget that kids can be irrational. 🤣 (I pretty much never interact with them, though, in my defense).
Not sure why I keep forgetting, goodness knows that I see plenty of "mature" adults acting irrationally....
