Things you wish you could say

I can NOT stand this whole participation trophy thing. Not just in sports. My son is in gifted classes at school, he is very smart. He got a 100% on a tough math test. Most of his classmates did not. The whole class had to retake the test so that nobody failed!

Hmm, I could get political but that is frowned upon here...

No need to get political. I recall a teacher who ordered three sets of hatching eggs from me, then told me none of them were hatching. A visit to her classroom showed me why. The "lights-out" switch at the door of the classroom that she turned off every day when she left also turned off the incubator.

I was surprised she hadn't noticed that.

What!?!?! I stopped getting participation awards once I was out of elementary school.

I have the perfect recovery cage for your problem fowl....

I guarantee it to improve them in about an hour and a half. I have a rosemary and sage treatment for whatever ails them as well.

Thats another thing that bugs me. When classrooms hatch out chickens but have no home for them. They are more than a science experiment!

So, did the participation trophy thing take the place of the least-absences trophy?

I won a 3rd grade spelling trophy and was so traumatized by the whole winning experience that I made sure THAT never happened again!

And yet, I am the girl washing and grooming birds for two weeks ahead of the State Fair. Go figure!

I honestly don't even know what a participation award is. I've only ever been homeschooled.
(College is going to SUCK, there will be far too many people).
What is nice is that you don’t have class every hour of the day and not every hour. And some classes you can choose to take online... in a non-Covid year.

It's where you're a little kid, and in a competition. Little kids will get upset if they lose, so every kid will get a little trophy, ribbon, etc to make them feel like they won. I had thought that this stopped at age 6, apparently not.
