Things you wish you could say

To be honest, I’ve seen plenty of old posts with misinformation as well. As more people join, there’s bound to be more bad advice, simply because the forum is bigger than it used to be.

Sure, there's always going to be misinformation and bad advice, it's the nature of the beast. I was speaking more to the ratio of bad to good that's changed here lately. I've seen quite a few threads where there are pages and pages of nonsense.

"Quit assuming things right off the bat. That's called profiling, and isn't that bad? If you can assume that I'm bad for something that I can't change, then I can do the same for you. If you don't like assumptions, then don't make them. Or do you like being a double-standard-pushing hypocrite who is blind to your own sins and idiocy? Okay, have a nice day, and leave me alone. Seriously, leave me alone. And my family. And especially any kids that I might have."

EDIT: Assuming. Not profiling. Sorry. Point is, it's kind of a jerk thing to do. If you don't want it, then don't do it.

Actually, banning an IP address is very easy. (I'm a mod and an admin on several other boards). The problem is, if you ban an IP address, as you stated, it bans the entire household. In addition, IP addresses are rarely static. They change. Even if they don't, anyone can just go through a VPN and appear to be logging in from a completely different IP address and location.
Yeah, they're easy to put into effect but can have unforseen side effects. But if an account is registered that shares an IP with a banned account, it's held for approval.

For anyone that cares, I will be stepping away from BYC for awhile. I feel like it has turned into a website I no longer want to be a part of, for political and personal reasons. Thanks for letting me vent in here!
