Gah. I hate the phrase "baby chick". A chick, by definition is a baby bird. Do you call human babies "baby babies"?!
For humans (at least in my language) we have many different names for an even large variety of ages. Chickens only have 3: chick - pullet / cockerel - hen/ rooster. A freshly hatched chick is absolutely a different kind of chick than a 4 or a 8 week old chick.

So for me ‘baby chick’ is not a bad name for a chick that just hatched is or just a few days old.

I agree.
It doesn’t really bother me.
