I used to wash, dye, and spin wool, then design and knit one of a kind sweaters. I could hardly sell them for $150 (this was in the '90s). One woman asked me, "Why do you charge so much? You like what you do."
I wanted to say: "Eh, you don't understand so I don't want you to buy it anyway. Go to Walmart and buy something acrylic."
Or: "My husband enjoys his job and he gets paid $xx per hour."
Here's what I said: "Um... well... I probably have 100 hours of my time in that piece..."
