Long story short, I fell into tech through a couple of "perfect timing" events and pure luck. So far it's done right by me. I've made a lot of friends, I've learned TONS, and it's the perfect kind of role for my ADHD brain. I've done OK for my family and my current company takes good care of me, so I'll probably finish out here unless some kind of stupid money offer comes in.Sure are a bunch of us here
I used to make my coworkers laugh when I worked at Sears in the IT dept - if I had trouble with some code or technical issue I couldn’t figure out, I would go home and clean stalls - mindless work - and presto a solution, I would then call my work phone and leave a msg to myself on how to solve my issue. Next morning I would check my voicemail and get my solution haha.
So when Sears was bought by Ed Lampert, he called it Sears Holdings so can you figure out the acronym for Sears Holding IT??? - I doodoo you not! I started answering the phone with Hi SH…., they then changed it the Sears Business Systems - so I started answering Hi Sears BS…. My manager finally had a chat with me. I told him hey if the bigwig mucky-mucks weren’t smart enough to think through their business functions names well what’s a gal to do?!
Oh oh oh and Sears Furniture and Appliances was known affectionately as Sears FnA (really? And my manager talked to me ? Ha!) Gosh I loved working at Sears it was the best place to work shop and invest ever. Until it wasn’t
Ooops sorry memory lane.
Anyways those are all things I did say - fun times
This is Fluffy can you tell heads from tails?

I own the CoG forums now. I was an admin there for many, many years, but when Texas passed those laws saying that you can't delete posts on a forum, Keeper of Tickets handed them over to me.and I thought I ran in nerd circles![]()
I went from being a Nurse, and then a new provincial govt cut schools and health care costs. I retrained in IT and had a blast working there, I have since moved into more administrative work. But once an IT geek always one hahaLong story short, I fell into tech through a couple of "perfect timing" events and pure luck. So far it's done right by me. I was going to school to be a geologist. The plan was I was going to do grad work in volcanology and wifey was doing grad work in marine biology and we were both gonna get research grants and live in a trailer on the beach in Hawaii.I went from being a Nurse, and then a new provincial govt cut schools and health care costs.
