On another note, does anyone know what this is? It's about 10 inches long and the one end is a strainer. Found it in a loved ones things after they passed

This is definitely a food tong that is used for picking up something that needs draining, like when you are frying. If you Google the image you will see many for sale. It is not for tea bags, it would probably rip the bag.
