Listen. You've been asking the same question for days. And you keep getting the same answer, from not one but several of BYC's most expert chickeners. Why did you come here? When are you going to believe us? What will it take to convince you? Why are you wasting our time? Go away.

No. You're insecure. I get it. You won't be convinced until your bird either crows or lays an egg. So we'll just keep assuring you until your bird confirms what we've been telling you. It's all right. It's what we're here for. Sigh. I need chocolate.

If the person is just worrying about what sex their chicken is, and wanting an answer that is 100% positive when that is not yet possible, I don't see that hurting the chickens in any way

This makes me sick... Wish I could tell the shelter to just let people have them for meat chickens, that's what they are bred for!

I just happened across an update on this situation.
Only a few days after the articles we were all complaining about, the shelter apparently did manage to find no-kill pet homes for all those meat chicks:

I'm impressed that they managed it. I suspect all the media coverage may have helped, because it let more people know about the situation.

(I still think it would have made more sense for the chicks to go to people that would raise them for meat, but at least the shelter is no longer overwhelmed, because the chicks have gone on to other people.)

When you run a charity to help animals, and you decide to jerk around your supporters by posting a video of a newborn animal with a painful condition and deliberately create a cliffhanger where you won't be sharing more of the information you admit to already having until tomorrow "and the next day"... just to provoke emotional giving...
And when a supporter (me) says in a fairly polite manner that you should rethink this approach because people will rage-quit... and you respond by deleting their comment and those agreeing and then post a new comment about "nasty" responses and misconstrue it to be an "attack"...

Well then you might be trying to form a cult! Where you need complete control and no one is allowed to speak up...
I wish I could tell you this, but I already unfollowed you and now I won't go back, so there!
