You can't really turn them off. And if you have Facebook on your phone, delete it. There are now companies legally allowed to monitor your phone calls for immigration status and "seditious behavior" through FB.

Damn. That’s horrible. Unfortunately, the only way I connect with some family and old friends is through FB and Instagram and Messenger. All of which they own.
