Things you wish you could say

You can also use sourcream, or even whole fat greek yogurt instead of cream cheese, some people in my family like it better that way.
My family mashes the potatoes with the water we used to boil them (a little more potato flavor and vitamins and minerals), then adds powdered milk and salt and butter. The powdered milk means you can get a lot more "milk" in the potatoes without turning them into soup. I've had occasional compliments and no complaints from other people eating these mashed potatoes, but that may say more about how polite the people are than it does about the flavor of the potatoes ;)

He also hates sour cream, he's picky

Heavy cream? But use less, as it would make the potatoes wetter.

This is starting to sound like my ice cream recipe I made last night with my birthday present ice cream maker.
From the booklet, it's cream cheese, milk, cream, sugar, choc chips.
I did Frosting cream cheese (made by Philadelphia, soo good) a little less sugar, mostly cream with a little milk. Extra vanilla and cut chunks of Ghirardelli 60% bar chocolate.

True fact: The first ever meal i made my husband was lemon pepper turkey breast with homemade mashed potatoes and cheese garlic bread. He was delighted by the mashed potatoes, and when he found out I did it with a fork and knife since I didnt have a masher, he decided to marry me. 😅

Awww!
That's some mashing dedication, there 🥳

"Stop, hey, what's that sound? Everybody look, what's going down? There's something happening here, and what is is, is exactly clear. It starts when you're always afraid. Step out of line, the man come and take you away."

Without looking online (meaning, you actually know this) what is the name of the song this quote is from?

(In the song, it's "what it is, ain't exactly clear" for sticklers.

I have used heavy cream before, but since it isn't flavored you have to add more salt, ends up tasting very rich and buttery.

Lol thats what he thought! To me it was fairly common, my rowdy broters often broke the masher growing up, i had gottwn prett good at using a fork and knife so it only took me about 8-10mins and i could get it very creamy. I was glad it made such an impression though! He bought me my first adult masher right after that and I havnt had to use a fork since. (Long time ago now) 😅

My most cringe "mash" moment was when, after a flash of teenage genius inspired me to put the lumpy mashed potatoes into the blender, the boyfriend I'd invited to dinner casually asked for "another glass of potatoes, please."
