THINK THE HEAT GOT TO HER

Of course, I've been keeping a close eye on Lovebug and since passing that egg, she does seem perkier. She's still laying down, but she's pecking around and I saw her eating a bit more scrambled egg.

Yeah, my sweet father said he'd go to Petsmart for me and get two more dog carriers so I can bring in my other two chickens today!

Boy, will my DH be surprised when he comes home from work today and sees all the chickens inside!!! We already have our 6 chicks still inside in the brooder!!

I am so glad your little girl is doing better!

I am sooooo thankful for this site! I had no idea about soft eggs. That is really something! I have learned so much from this site and all the lovely chicken lovers on it!

It is sooooo hot here too and my chickens were panting. My husband put a box fan in the coop and they are happy now.

Keep us posted! Have a great week!

panting is normal when it is hot. It really helps if the chicken is gradually adapted to the heat. they drink water and pant. They can not sweat. They just sit very still with feathers spread and pant until it gets cooler. I'm in texas and even my babies pant. I hate the heat but best thing to do is make sure they have fresh water ALL the time.

Chickaroo - I hope your hen feels better today. I noticed mine when they are under stress from heat will pass a soft egg or two - then will be alright when the heat abates.

Hope that's all it was for her too.
