Thinking About a Parakeet: Pics Added!!!

Here's my new girl!

She's already trusting my finger and wanted to sit on it instead of the perches in her cage!

The cage looks smaller than it really is in the photos...don't know why it's doing that? Probably the angle?

See, I have a transport cage that is 12" x 6" so that she can't hurt herself, but the cage I have her in is 18" x 12". I don't know why the photo came up looking so small?

As for the name...I don't really know.

Del Sol (of the sun) has a good ring to it, BUT, I'm still not sure. My boyfriend picked out a generic name of "Blender Bait."

I love their singing. Mine used to sing when my mom would wash dishes. He loved the sound of water!

She IS beautiful! Our 'keet lives in a "flight cage". It's about 3' long, 2' wide, and 2' tall. She flies like a humming bird in it, and hangs upside down like a bat. She throws her toys around, and sometimes picks up her fuzzy wool ball and drops it from her perch...she's a real card! They can be a ton of fun!

LOL...she's officially in love with her swing.

I've been handling her off and on all day. She will willingly step up to your finger. She's chirped once or twice but not much noise. Only one freak-out when I handled her the first time, but she's handled much better than several birds I've had.

Flippacase, they aren't really rare parakeets, they are just sectioned off as that at pet stores when they have them laid out as green, blue, and "rare".

I've raised parakeets before and thought about English Budgies last year, but never really got into it.


She looks like a lutino!! Great color I always wanted that color.
