What are good choices for meat geese. I will be raising some pekin ducks and thinking about a few geese also.

we keep production toulouse and Americans both. I know Oregon Blues on here says her Pomeranians are great meat geese as well.

Production Toulouse

American

I started raising Embden and production Toulouse and just love them - Both have been friendly and very easy to care for - I will be processing the ones that will not be kept for breeding stock this weekend - Can't wait to have roost Goose.

I got Embden and Toulouse as well. Also have the pekins which we will be doing shortly with the BB turkeys. The geese i will winter so they can breed and then next year cull.

What age do you harvest geese? And how difficult is it to over winter them? I live in northern Wi.

I gotta get mine hunting

I love the speckle-bellies the best.

I prefer the Pomeranians for meat.

Embdens are what are raised commercially, because of the white feathers, and probably better feed conversion.

I live in Michigan and have no problems with keeping geese year round.
As long as they have daily fresh water, feed, protection from predators and shelter they will be just fine.
