Thinking of buying my first incubator. . . . Need help with everything

Yes this is my first 1 and I'm just thrilled. I'm having the same problem, my layers refuse to go broody. The only hen I have that even seems to think about it is my little bantam and of course I can't really slide any more eggs in her nest. I have some ameracuanas laying and my buff Orpington so I'll probably use those eggs and we have an auction about 5 miles from my house that usually sells mar an eggs so I'll try to buy some of those too.oh and I have a few silkies but I really don't think my silkie roo would be the dad the poor little guy is so submissive.I do have about 4 little silkie chicks that I purchased and I can't tell my girls from my boys.they'll look the same.
I ordered mine Thursday night too and I really hope it comes Tuesday I'll definitely let ya know as soon as it arrives. Oh and we juhave to have a hatch along.I'm so excited. Yay!!

I ordered mine on Monday and it was here friday, ordered the second one Wednesday and it will be here Tuesday....I am in PA. So I would say they are pretty quick. It comes UPS and signature required. So far mine has been dead on since I plugged it in and let it warm up. I didnt have to adjust the temp at all...it came set right out of the package. It is running at 99.5 precisely! I am so excited to get my eggs sunday!

I just checked my email and estimated delivery is Monday. I'm sure someone will be here to sign, otherwise I'll put a note on the door. Wow bought your 2nd one! Well congrats!

OK... is there also such a thing as "incubator math" ?!? (Kinda works along the same lines and goes along with "chicken math".)

I have been considering one and this thread has been so helpful! Thanks all. I will have to check my budget and see what can be done.

I have wonderful broodies, but can see how this would be so helpful.

Ohh, i just got a message from someone nearby with some silkie eggs, yay. I didnt think i would find any this fast. Im thinking ill have enought to fill the brinsea 20 now for our hatchalong, lol. I ordered my incubator on Friday morning so i havnt recevied my tracking or estamated delivery time but hopfully it will be here by mid week. Sure is alot of us ordering them this week, the Brinsea company must LOVE all the buisness that Backyardchickens drums up for them ay.

Ordered the Brinsea ECO20 and it arrived yesterday. I am so excited. I have another incubator that is styro that worked just fine for my hatch last year but only holds 12 eggs. I wanted to incubate at least two dozen at a time. I do have two hens that went broody last Feb and stayed that way clear through November. I have no idea what they may have planned for this year. Hens can be so cagey.

Alot of People are anti- LG, but I got one for Christmas and have had 4 hatches with 100% hatch rates. And the best part is you can get the incubator and the automatic egg turner for $90 at tractor supply.

So I would give the Little Giant a try before spending a fortune.
