Thinking of cutting hair short...

Do not trust your hairstyle to a bunch of people on the Internet. As wonderful as we all are.

You will be beautiful no matter what; and I see no double chin. If I was going to recommend a cut, I would say something that is short on the sides with bangs that come down over your forehead a bit at an angle.

I have super-short hair and love it! I'm not posting a picture though. I just don't.

For much of my life I had hair that ranged from shoulder length to mid-back. A few times, I had it cut into a chin-length bob.

About four years ago, maybe five, I walked into a salon 10 minutes before closing time, and asked for an ultra-short cut. ALL of the stylists but one refused. My hair came to the center of my back. They were scared to death to do it -- afraid that I'd hate it. ONE stylist did it and I have never gone back. I had him cut my hair every month or six weeks until I moved to a different state. I "still" have him cut my hair every time I'm anywhere through that area. (Hey, I have another trip coming up. I can have him do it again. Yeah!)

Mine goes so short that it's JUST long enough that it doesn't spike. I keep getting tempted to try a bit shorter, so I can spike the top a little bit with some gel. Maybe I'll try that this summer.

Then, I'm also thinking of dying it some funky color this summer...maybe I'll go pink or purple.

Probably not...'fraid that my students would think I'd lost it! Perhaps I'll go for a nose ring instead...

I've thought about doing this aswell

I would recommend that you not cut it too short if you are used to wearing it long. I did that once, cut 28" off of mine. I managed to keep it that short (just below my ears) for however long it took to grow it out some. I couldn't stand not being able to put it in a ponytail!

ETA: It's been about 10 years since I cut it that short and it is almost back to where it was then. Of course I was 10 years younger and had 2 small children (thank you prenatal vitamins!), so I'm sure that had something to do with it. It just doesn't grow as fast as it used to.

don't do it. my DW insists that i married her cause of her long red hair. (yeah i'm a sucker for irish girls) but anyway SHE says she would be divorced if she cut hers short (I'm not convinced i would). her hair is past her........:cough:.... well it's pretty long. i like it that way and she says she can do more different hair styles with it that long than she could if it was short. so you have more options with long hair.

I cut my hair short once.. it was a nightmare... it was MORE work for me to style..

BUT..i have very thick, coarse hair.. so i need the extra weight of long hair to keep it somewhat under control...

When I cut mine short, my reasoning was so I'd be able to 'do' something with it. I got so sick of HAVING to do something with it so it didn't look like crap...I love being able to twist my hair into a bun and get it out of the way...I'll never do short hair again

Mine looks very cute when it's short though, natural curls and all...but it takes so much work to keep the curls curly instead of frizzy that it's just not worth it.

You'll be amazed at how LIGHT your head feels if you cut all that off, too! Wonderful! Now, I notice if it's even a half inch. I can literally feel the difference in the weight of that amount of hair. I'll never go back to having the weight of long hair hanging from my head.

1) Lighter
2) No need to de-snarl or de-tangle hair, or wear it to bed in braids to avoid tangles.
3) No need to blow dry for more than a minute or two (or wear wet hair to bed...)
4) Takes me 2 minutes a day to deal with, and sometimes less! A bit of mousse or gel, 60 seconds with a hair dryer, a dab of cream and my hair is done...barely needs a brush.

Yep...I like the benefits of short hair! My spouse did like long hair on me but tough luck. He wasn't the one who had to wear it / untangle it / put up with it. Besides, he has less hair now than he did when I met him, too, so he can hardly complain about it...
