~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

I may have missed this but I am wondering what turkey breeds everyone is going to be hatching out?

AND maybe if there may be a swap for the hatch-a-long?

I have a test hatch started now for a fertility check ..
Heritage turkeys... Sweetgrass tom over Buff hens (Jersey Buff and Self Buff)

not sure if I will toss some in for the hatch a long.. I have peafowl and mandarin eggs slated for then.. so we'll see if I want to be bothered or if i will put in more goose eggs..

also have some goose eggs in the bator.. Sebastopol, Embden and Toulouse.. but they should be out towards the end of this month..
duck eggs are due to hatch mid March... so I'll have room for plenty of eggs.. lol

For all of you who are doing the Easter Hatch-along and the Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-a-thon, just a reminder that the incubation of both will over lap so keep that in mind when deciding how many eggs you will be setting.

Or get another incubator!!! LOL

:jumpy

I have the following IF they get a move on about laying!! Observed a BR hen cooperating!! yeah!!

sweetgrass
bourbon reds
auburn x auburnX hen

Better get HEnny PEnny set up and running!!

The benefits of 4 bators & a constant staggered hatch running...lol

I have blus slate tom over 2 blue slate & 2 royal palm hens if anyone would be interested in swapping. The slate/palms are supposed to produce blue or black mottled in this cross & then blue & lavender palms when crossed back to royal palm.

I will have Midget Whites and Pearl Guineas once they begin laying. :fl   Lots of mating going on, so hopefully soon.

Would love some of those MW & guineas once they get in gear if you feel like swapping.

I'm about ready to start prowling through the farm yard looking for hidden eggs from those big girls...
Not to mention, they are confined to the hoop coop until we finish the new Turkey Town. And yes, I am peeking in all the corners when I do chores!

Newbie question here...I've heard of "Sweetwater" turkeys, and now I'm seeing "Sweetgrass" on this thread. Is one a typo, are they different, are they the same?

Big learning curve here...trying to figure out all the acronyms for breeds is quite a puzzle! Esp. since there is so much duplication...like BR for Barred Rock or Bourbon Red. Is there a glossary somewhere?

If anyone else has pure Narrangansett eggs I'd love to do a swap. I hope to get some up to date pics of my ladies and gents this weekend. I think it might get above freezing so I will want to be outside for longer than 5 minutes :/
