~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

Well since it's such a beautiful day, I let my turkey out of their pen to run around, Well My hen actually laid on the ground and waited for one of my tomes toms to mount her, (I was so excited because they have never done that and I have really been wanting some turkey hatching eggs) But I'm not sure the toms know what to do lol. Then My big Bourbon Red walk up to her about to Mount, steps on her tail, and she jumps up and runs away, Well they kept repeating the process but nothing got anywhere. But I think as they get older They will get the hang of it...I hope.
THe excitment builds when the girls start laying down . . . eggs are not far away.

300 year is a pretty good number!!

Funny, I thought geese were bigger than that. Maybe it is al the feathers that make them look bigger than my turkeys. lol

The nice thing about geese.. they love grass.. so our feed cost for them is a lot lower than on the turkeys
One point for geese!! I'm definitely looking to have more grass to forage here. Seems like turkeys eat mostly grain, and some grass.

my geese will even nibble on hay in the winter when grass is dead.. they don't seem to be too darn picky.. lol

muscovies are helping htemselves to the second cut hay this year, along with the chickens who like the chaff. . . . makes for a dark yellow yolk even in the winter. Ducks seem to be easy-- well they go where they want and are hard to corral, but otherwise forage around for goodies.
