~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

See if anyone near you would like to get some too! It would be fun to raise chicks with your friends!!
already tried that. I'm the odd man out in my community for wanting "farm animals" heck we only have one feed store for 5 county's and most of those people at the feed store think I'm a joke for wanting such a small number (and they are mostly cattlemen too)

Can't seem to have a 'no-pips' time to do it, and they were playing Russian Nesting Dolls with the empty shells and the other eggs, so I did a quick transfer/headcount. Hard to count / see into a brinsea without taking off the lid, LOL!
4 BO's & 1 FR in broodlerland,
two BO & one BR out, but still damp in the incubator,
seven tiny pips - 5 BO, 2 BR/RIR crosses, reading magazines,
one turkey egg sitting there looking majestic and waiting for the 15th
three WR eggs doing the same thing
one BO due by midnight last night that isn't doing ANYTHING - not pippin', not rockin'.

Meaning - so far 50% are out, their 21 days was at midnight last night and the 'out' ones were mostly pipped then, but only one was out then. Everybody I can see looks well-formed and has the appropriate level of vigor for age, so I'll take it - so far!

The only differences between this hatch and other in the brinsea is breeds & that I opened the vent fully at the end instead of just over halfway. I'm guessing breeds IS slightly relevant, because almost all prior hatches in that incubator were FR and hatched late day 20 & day 21 - the only FR in this hatch popped first, late on day 20.

Congrats on your hatch!!! That doesn't sound like bad numbers to me. :)

Oh, I was hoping they were close enough that you could go pick them up.
i could.. if i had a car i have to walk every where except when i go with my parents and they don't want to have to drive more then 30 minutes to anywhere so I'm on my own until i get my driver license this chicken thing is giving me grey hairs

yay can't wait to see pics

yeah i wish my feed store would keep their chicks in stock. i went today to buy some after getting a call that they got a new shippment last friday and they where already out. turns out they only buy 20-50 chicks at a time and someone always buys a butt load before i get there (that has happened 7 times now). I have been trying to get chickens since the begining of december for pete sakes!!

Most feed stores will allow you to place an order for chicks to be shipped with their next order and you save on shipping that way. For example, you say you want 8 Easter Eggers and when they place their next order they include 8 Easter Eggers for you and tell you the delivery date. When the order comes in, they don't even put those out with the other chicks but keep them in the back for you.

Two other options you can try: First is to see if there is a thread in the "Where am I? Where are you?" section for your state. You don't have your state listed so I can't say specifically if there is one for your state, but there probably is. Some states are more active than others, but I know on my state's thread there are constantly people hatching and mentioning what they have available, or most would even be willing to do a custom hatch if you want specific breeds that they raise. Second is to look on your local Craigslist. I can't scroll through the first page of ads on my local Craigslist, without seeing multiple ads for people selling chicks. That may vary from location to location too, but if you are in an area where the feed store gets chicks, there must be people out there not far from you that are raising them. Its just a matter of finding them.

Ok, so here s the ten that have hatched so far..... took a peak and one egg is still piped and another is moving....
today is day 28

Are you new southern middle TN? I have a few I could part with, or I could hatch some for you if you'd like.
