~*Third Annual Cinco de Mayo Turkey Hatch-Athon*~ all poultry welcome!

Could this dark egg be from 1 of my young palm hens? My other palm hen lays a very light egg with tiny pale speckles just a bit smaller than the 2 slate eggs in this pic. I started getting these this past week but just thought 1 of my EE pullets had finally started to lay & was laying an odd egg.
This looks like a turkey eggs to me-- my EE's lay a normal chicken sized egg. And not speckled.

My turkey eggs are this sandy pink color with freckles. lol THe freckles seem to vary from fewer to well covered.

I vote turkey.

I vote turkey egg also. On occasion I get some darker eggs from my hens.

Here are the 3 known turkeys next to the suspect egg. The 2 in the middle are from my slates. I caught a palm laying the egg on the right. The egg on the left is a negative of the egg on the right. Right is cream with almost white speckles. Left is tiny & tan with darker brown speckles.

Someone please help me decide. I want to hatch turkeys this year, but can't decide on the breed. We would want a good table bird, but also one that is easy to manage. We have 80 acres to raise them on, & would like them to free range, but don't want them wandering the neighborhood. Are there any breeds that stay close to home & are friendly, easy-going birds? I've done a little research & have narrowed it down to a couple breeds: Bourbon Reds & Narragasettes. I found a local hatchery for BR eggs (about an hour away), but don't mind buying shipped eggs if I find the right breed for me. Any advantages of one breed over another? Please advise if there's a better breed than the 2 I've listed.

I've never had Bourbon Reds but I absolutely adore my Narrs. I had Royal Palms before (beautiful) and White Midgets (which weren't so "midgety") and like all of them! I chose Narrs because of their feathering, heritage breed and they are very friendly. One of my girls comes up on the deck and taps on the window every day until she gets her treat.

You need some! They are beautiful, males and females. I am going to start squeezing my girls if they don't start laying again soon.

My youngest laid about 15 eggs and then stopped. It was way too cold for them to be viable to hatch so here I am still waiting.

I'll swap ya for some eggs ir poults once they get in gear. My slates & palms have been laying for over a month. I have 1 fertile from the first batch headed to lockdown this weekend & 7 from the 2nd batch headed there next weekend. The next 2 batches went to other people's bators. The next batch is mine!

I am too, hahahahaha! I see you have Silkies and Polish. I raise Polish also. Are yours purebred and seperated? Perhaps we can figure out a swap when my turkey hens are back to laying!

At the moment I'm down to just silkie roos. I really need to find them some new girls. My polish are a mixed flock. Hens are wcb, gl & splash. The roo is gl but looks to be carrying blue as he has some blue in part of his lacing & butt fluff.
