I don't do the jackets.. i just end up gnawing right through those straps and play with the eggies all through incubation and hatch...so it's just a waste of a perfectly good jacket if you give me one....
besides.. all I would do if I had one would be to smack myself in the head with the buckles as I was putting it on.. and I don't need another black eye this year!

so 5 dozen per level... x 5 levels.. x 6 bators ....
1800 eggs when they are stuffed....


and it takes me longer than 2 hours a day to turn them when I hit max capacity (which is why I don't max them out every month!)

that's nothing! when you start hatching 300 per bator and have 6 bators going at once.. let me know! this is one level in one of my coolerbators.. when packed I can stack them 5 high... so 5 dozen per level... x 5 levels.. x 6 bators .... 1800 eggs when they are stuffed.... and it takes me longer than 2 hours a day to turn them when I hit max capacity (which is why I don't max them out every month!)

Could u just tilt the entire cooler bator back and forth to turn them? Unless of course u have water in them, then I guess that would spill. Wow! I'm fixing to build Sally Sunshines cabinet cooler bator to hatch around 120 at a time. Which with it, u just move a rod to tilt/turn them all at once, & I am STILL trying to come up with an automatic system. Lol I'm just too afraid I'll forget them! Or, what if I get stuck back in the hospital?? Makes me nervous!

I think you are right, you don't need a jacket. How about a nice room with padded walls, and incubators that need their eggs turned?

I not only fiddle with my eggs, I talk to them, I sing to them, I dance in the room with them!
Heck I even swear at them and sometimes I even draw silly faces on them!
So as you can see its not just my hands that are way way WAHHHHWAY too free!

This is the normal look of 3 of my 4 bators. The only 1 I try to avoid stacking is the hatcher....and btw, you can get a lot more in if you lose the cartons Wait until she's up to eat before switching them out again. She's pecking the easter eggs because they look so different & are shiny. She won't do that to regular eggs that look as she expects them to. Not yet but getting close. I'd say less than 24 hours & it will be.

I figured I could get in more in with out the cartons lol. But the eggs in the cartons are on day 12 and have been incubated upright this far snd the Marans eggs are shipped eggs. I felt as though they should stay upright.

I kept mine upright for 9-10 days then laid them down (if the air cell was stable) and they all hatched great.

I sooooo wanted to do a video contest for the HAL but we never got to it! At the local fair they did a "CLUCKING CROW" contest! OMG to see adults acting like ROOOSTERS and hens was hilarious! But I am not sure anyone on BYC would enter for fear of looking like a chicken dork! I thought it would be so hilarious! You know any adult doing it would probably win! ha ha ha
