Wait until they roost and you should be able to handle them better. You might only see red quills as they are developing.

Treats always help. If you can find what they like they will run to you not away from you.

There are many different philosophy's on how to raise roosters. Some fairly recent on this forum. I would also read those if she is a he.

Okay thank you. I raised 6 roosters last year when I wound up with 6 instead of 1 and they all were very friendly. I have 2 left and the one is like a dog. He follows me everywhere I go let’s me carry and pet him. I’m not sure why these chicks aren’t as friendly as my boys were. Maybe because there was twice as many as last time so I didn’t get as much individual time with them as the boys.
 
It's a Speckled Sussex, albeit not a very well marked one. And it is very dark which I imagine happens with hatchery babies. It is a little early to tell, but I'm leaning towards cockerel. Although it is possible that it's just a pullet with a larger comb currently.

thank you! i’m leaning toward cockerel myself but praying it’s a weird pullet
