I agree.
This forum has changed in the one year I've been here. It used to be fun and informative, but now theres tons of misinformation and snowflakes getting offended over everything.
I feel like all the young kids that don't know much and get butthurt over everything are being catered to over the long time members with actual knowledge, who are the ones that make BYC so great.

And now I rarely post because of all of this. And if this continues to go in the same direction I know many others will slowly stop posting here too.

Then BYC will be left with a bunch of whiney kids that don't know anything, and all the knowable members will be gone.

Something needs to change, and I think y'all know where you can start.
So, I hope to see some improvement in the way this site is run. Until then, we'll taking a break from posting

I have noticed it to this past year. It is endemic on a public forum, increasing a lot probably due to extra pandemic chicken keepers as well as kids out of school.
I’ve seen good examples from experienced members like you @aart, reminding posters to keep on topic and start their own thread rather than hijack the op’s. Lots of people end up here with an injured or sick bird or predator attack and haven’t read the rules or like me never participated in a forum before so I learned a lot from the experienced members here.
The ones that bother me are in the emergency threads. People are in crisis and there are ridiculous to downright dangerous suggestions. If I feel the need to say something I’ve been known to say “I’m not an educator here but...” then tag some who I think will be able to offer bonafide help.
Bad behavior is rising though illustrated by the number of fights and assaults on flight crews! They are threatening to ban alcohol on airplanes! Oops! This is how threads drift.

That used to be the status quo on discussion forums.... 'self moderation'.
There's always been chatting and topic knowledge sections on forum, discussion boards, etc.
That's gone down the tubes....sometimes often I think, "smartphones made forums stupid".

Don't need to be 'labeled' an 'educator' to have good advice, experience, and logic.
Don't get me started on 'labels'.
Unfortunately many of those type members seem to be gone.
Maybe overwhelmed with the kindergarten ambiance.

It’s messed up that’s what it is. it should not have to be that way.

This might be the most boomery post I've read. I hope to see improvement too after a pretty obvious discriminatory action due to some, as you'd probably understand them, "snowflake" reported. I now only respond to pms or if I'm mentioned in a thread. This is an exception as this thread was brought to my attention

Sad is one description, discriminatory is another. I do find it funny the same age group who probably throw around a snowflake term are the same that get otherwise fine threads taken down due to personal beliefs and feelings being hurt
