This chicken has always resembled the hens more, but now I see tail feathers starting to curve and the sharp needle like feathers behind the wings. It is a barnyard mix, so maybe it got some different genetics from the others. It is 4 months old.

NOOO! This makes choosing the two Roos I'm going to keep so much harder. He is very skiddish but the brown markings make him pretty and stand out so much more.
Yep it's a roo :)

Think how I feel with my Polish x Silkie, Martina whom I thought was a pullet - crowed a couple weeks ago. :(

Tried calling him Martin, but his mum is Marty, it was just all too confusing!

So now he is known as Pretty Boy Floyd :)

100% roo.
If you have enough hens, you might be able to keep him.

I have an appointment to bring the roos and drakes in this evening. They are tormenting my girls so it really can't wait. I thought I had the two roos I would keep picked out, but this changes things. He won't let me get within 30 feet of him, so I dont think he would make a good guard. But none of the others have the beautiful pattern on their wings.

Oh no...
I'm sorry that that had to happen.:hugs

Just took the roos in to their new forever home in the sky. I chose to keep the late bloomer with the pretty wings, and the strongest healthiest looking roo. I can now name them. How do Elvis and Prince sound?
