This is NOT a Barred Cochin! Or is it...

Looks like a game to me too. What you have to remember about Ideal is they are a hatchery. They hatch millions of birds a year for profit, not quality control.

It's difficult to judge some breeds/varieties by looking at juvenile plumage. Wait until it matures some more.

I don't think it is a Cochin, but it may be.

This is a real puzzler, isn't it? I'd like to see updated pics when you have time. It looks like it has feathered legs in the pic, but could just be the "petticoat fluff" covering the leg in the photo. That pic just doesn't look like a single comb to me. If not, I have no idea. Strange bird, that one.

I agree that it seems to have feathered feet. And the gangliness may just be that it's young and in an awkward position.

Maybe some more pictures from different angles? and a close-up of the comb?
I still think it may be a barred cochin, even if not a great quality one.

I agree that it looks like a game breed. But the feathered feet and the comb are really throwing me. Now that I look at the picture again, I do see what appears to be lacing on the chest.

I'll be really interested to see how this one develops and find out what the heck it is!
