This Is WAR!!!

I had a huge issue with them last fall , had to clean up three that had taken a taste towards my chickens .A little trick to keeping them from spraying is to water them down ...........they can't lift there tail if it's soaked ? I live trapped mine and threw a dark old blanket over the cage and only the smallest sprayed a bit ( it could lift it's tail in the cage , the others couldn;t lift theres

How interesting! I've often wondered what I would do if i caught a skunk. Normally I dispose of nuisance visitors (excluding in-laws) with a .22, and wondered about the smell. I've never thought about if they can't life their tail they won't spray. Interesting, but I'm not going to chase them with a hose to find out.

I once rode up on a mother skunk with about 10 little bitty babies while horse back riding. They were foraging around on the trail and we just sat and watched. Those were the cutest little buggers ever. Every one of them had a different color pattern. Very interesting. We stayed about 10 minutes then rode a VERY wide circle around them.

Skunks tame really easy but they are also big rabies carriers. I have had a problem with a skunk that has gotten a taste for my chickens. MY dogs, being protective of their flock, has tangled with this skunk multiple times. They never get close enough to do it any damage, and one of more of my dogs always end up being penned outside for a night because they have been sprayed. They are really cute, but they have been a nuisance here for a while
