Did anyone ever educate her on the way a goose needs to be fed and kept? She may not have had any idea so did what she thought best. I see this at the swaps all the time. In fact at the swap I was at last Sunday I had two different individuals ask me why my turkeys were so large. These were seventeen week old Midget Whites. They aren't large, their birds were drastically undersized because they'd been fed chicken layer feed their whole lives. I make it a point not to sell a poult that I do not determine if the buyer knows how they need to be fed. At least half the folks that buy birds from me have no idea. Five minutes worth of education can save a life time of bad feeding for a bird that may never be able to overcome the lack after the fact.
Now, if they know what they should feed and choose to do it wrong anyway then they deserve all the criticism they get.
