This is what happens when you keep a goose in the house! *newER pic!*

Did anyone ever educate her on the way a goose needs to be fed and kept? She may not have had any idea so did what she thought best. I see this at the swaps all the time. In fact at the swap I was at last Sunday I had two different individuals ask me why my turkeys were so large. These were seventeen week old Midget Whites. They aren't large, their birds were drastically undersized because they'd been fed chicken layer feed their whole lives. I make it a point not to sell a poult that I do not determine if the buyer knows how they need to be fed. At least half the folks that buy birds from me have no idea. Five minutes worth of education can save a life time of bad feeding for a bird that may never be able to overcome the lack after the fact.

Now, if they know what they should feed and choose to do it wrong anyway then they deserve all the criticism they get.

What a beautiful place, I'm thinking with that place to live and some extra special TLC she'll be good as new in no time. Hoping so anyway!

She's weak and more than likely dehydrated. I'm glad you posted this - it may serve as a guideline as what to avoid when keeping geese. I hope she is feeling better real soon. I'm glad she's back with you. Pls keep us posted.

p.s. How has she reacted to your other geese - some of which are her siblings?

I'm keeping her seperated from the rest of the flock until she's recovered a bit. They got a glimpse of her last night- all gathered around and sized up the new girl before wandering off to bed. She doesn't seem interested in joining them, but she can hear their chatter. I guess its just a wait and see.

Maybe when she is stronger and back to her healthy self - they'll be more interested in them. I'm really pulling for her - and you. Good Luck - holding good thoughts for you and your little goose.

We did a swap- 2 geese that she had, for one of my geese, my best chickens plus cash. The story was she just wanted to have one goose so it would bond. I had nooooo idea. I never called her a horrible person though
