This is why I detest modern technology....

I don't know why we still call them phones (smart or otherwise). They are pocket computers, and making and receiving calls is not just one of their many functions, but seems to be one of their least used functions.

That's about right. I use my smartphone primarily for listening to audiobooks and recorded radio programs. I also use it to take pictures. Now I use it to make my bank deposits. I also use it as a phone, but I have successfully made it through life without the need to be talking to someone all the time. So I just got a cheap Tracfone for about $80 for the year. Should have enough mins and texts to carry me through the year and more. Never spent much time talking on my landline phone, so I doubt my pattern will change just cause I got a cell phone.

There is definitely an advantage to having a local business. Which is why I keep a small account with my local Wells Fargo. But as a bank, I don't have much good to say about their history of treating their customers. I never wanted a Wells Fargo bank account, but my local bank was bought out by a larger bank from Minneapolis, and then that bank was bought out by Wells Fargo. As you might imagine, the small local bank I opened the account with was the best bank, but they were bought out.
Check out local credit unions. I dumped banks in favor of them several years ago and have never regretted it — same services, fewer/less fees.
