This morning, I heard it ... one of my 16-week old "pullets" crowed

Thank you all so much for the kind words about my daughter -- Claire is her name.

The pullets are not laying yet, so I can't bribe with eggs at the moment, but I think I am going to hold off on the butchering.

The crows are definitely cock-a-doodle-dos. He -- now Sir Buffington (love that) -- crowed five or six times in 10 minutes. No doubt about it.

How long does it take that creaky crow to become full-throated?

16 weeks old...that seems late to crow. My EE crowed at 9 weeks old. Are you sure she is no a pullet that is trying to crow? Some will do that. Beautiful bird either way. My little one has ben perfecting his crow with the aide of the Roo next door for oooohhhh 6 weeks and he still sounds funny at 15 weeks old. However I will give him credit. He has hour long crow offs with Brewster next door so he is probably hoarse.

How current is the pic of Buffy? If it's current, it looks more like a hen than a roo in looking at its comb & wattles. In my opinion anyway, but

It'll take roos several wks to perfect their crowing. Also, better hang on to your hat bc when Claire is a teenager you're gonna have a lot of trouble as pretty as she is.
