I also talked to her about if I were to buy my chickens from a hatchery they would be immunized and I wasn't sure "organic" chickens would be or not?

At anyrate... I came to realize I have no idea what organic eggs mean.

Not much if you buy them from a store. As you say, they must be rinsed with a USDA approved cleanser and it may infiltrate the eggs.

One can buy chicks from a hatchery that have not been immunized, its your choice.

My X-DW got a bad case of Campylobacter right after we got our chickens. She thought it was the new chickens but I suspect I shouldn't have used her toothbrush to polish the raw chicken I cooked for dinner that night.

that pic of the bbq sure looked mighty tastey.... i think their pr people should have picked a pic of a raw chicken to get their point across... but eh, who am i?

No, organic standards can't be enforced; at present there's no test to distinguish an organic product from one that has been exposed to chemicals...which leads me to wonder if nutritionally it's any better. There's the whole environment issue aside from that though....

ok but do you know if a chicken has had immunizations is it considered non-organic? and if so...how do the producers do it...assuming they would have a large quantity of birds to supply a grocery store chain?
