I'm frequently amazed at what people post on a public forum... not so much BYC, but I've seen others post really personal information about their family, relationships, spouses, etc. that could easily be referenced by an employer, employee, family member, etc.

Sometimes people realize their mistake and try to delete traces of the information. Easier said than done. Almost all of the major search engines keep caches (copies) of the websites they visit and you'd be hard pressed to get them to remove the information. Oh, and then there is the wayback machine at the internet archive where you can see all kinds of fun stuff from the past:
