I can't read it all just the part where the woman was not so smart on the out muscle the foal. We just put a halter on them let them get used to that and then lead them. Except my one paint stallion I had when I was seven I named him Spirit. Never used a halter or anything I would just walk up and talk to him like a person and he did every command I gave. But we sold him.

Tether isn't what killed the chick. It was actually the chicks fault. She didn't want something on her leg and so she fought against me and I just waited for her to tire out didn't think she was willing to pull her legs out of socket to get out of the tether. If you're wondering how she pulled both legs out of socket that's because I tethered both legs. For the Canyon County Fair you must use a choke collar on your dog or you're disqualified and when I was working with my dog my dad started the four wheeler and my dog tried taking off he figured out what choke collars can do. My dog kept jumping wanting to be with the other two dogs running. My dog hated being a show dog. Kathy what do you do if a horse bucks you off or gets in a fight with you ( not kicking just not listening or trying to bite you)? Us we tie them to a post and let them tire out eventually they learn their lesson. Just like Spirit in the cartoon. Let them fight themselves and let them tire out. When I put Thor on a tether guess what Thor did. Tried flying off but when he felt the tug from the tether he came back to my arm. It only takes a few times before they get it. Our horses after being around an electric fence we don't even turn it on and they know not to touch. What happens when a kid cuts himself with a knife trying to carve or cut something. They won't do it again. I only use one tether now which you can use hopefully the bird will figure it out before it's to late. How else would you suggest me to keep a bird on my arm. I know they can get heavy but it's kind of like a bow it's hard pulling the string back at first but you will build muscle and be able to pull it with ease. That's why I keep my arm close to my body doesn't tire out as fast.

You are blaming an animal with a brain roughly the size of a peanut, for not figuring out that it was going to hurt itself. If you are going to take on the responsibility of owning these animals you need to also take on the responsibility of keeping them safe, even if it is from themselves. If they are going to hurt themselves in a certain situation, you as the more intelligent one should refrain from putting them in that situation. I for one do not allow my animals to play in the road. They are not intelligent enough to know they should stay off of it, so as the smarter one, I put up a fence instead of letting them die in the road and then saying it was their fault because they wouldn't stay off of it. I've owned horses as well, and we never ever tied up a horse that was freaking out or acting up, that is the surest way to end up with an injured or dead horse.

Come talk to me *after* you breed, raise, train and successfully show one at the State or National level, not some 4H show.

I'm reading as much as the website will let me. I can have Thor and Calypso on my arm without a tether but fair rules say if your bird can fly you have two options clip the wings or tether. I use the tether only for working with fair otherwise I just have him on my arm. When he's on my arm he never wants to leave. That would be the ladies fault. Those chicks were the first I've ever tethered it was a mistake in doing both legs and I already learned my lesson.

Not everybody shows at national or state level. I don't even show at 4-H. I trained my own stallion and raised him from a foal. I've raised, trained, and bred horses before.
