OH! I was a little confused when you said that but I was thinking you meant the name for Harley not what variety.

Yep, I could tell that was what you thought I meant. So..... If he was your's and you were describing him, what would you say, loud? silver? or just plain old pied? I'm just curious how different people's opinions will be
Quote: on this. I have no idea what his genetics are because he was a rescue, so appearance is all I have to go on. And he has hardly any White Eyed feathers, 3 or 4 at most, the rest are pure white or normal colored.

Peafowl with two white genes = white.( TT) one white gene , + one pied gene = pied. (T,pd ) One white,+one pied,+ two copies of white eye gene (T, pd, w/e, w/e) = silver pied.. Pied + pied genes (pd,pd ) = dark pied . Now, what is loud pied ??? is it a peafowl with T+pd+w/e genes?. if I can assume. People use the word Loud pied. I am confused. Appreciate clarification as to its genetic make up from knowledgable people. A dark pied (pd,pd ) x a white ( TT) = all pied chicks (T,pd)

Hi there, this is what I call loud pied(just my opinion) I wish I could tell you his genetic make up, but I rescued him and have no idea what genes he is carrying. I can tell you he has very few white eye feathers, so if he carries that gene he doesn't express it very much. He also has very little of the frosted looking feathers that I see on silver pieds. His are either pure white or normal color, not much blending of the 2. Sorry I am not more knowledgable on the Genetics. I do know that I have a dark pied hen(pd,pd) who has been in with a white male (TT,TT)for 2 years and they produce more all white chicks than they do pied?

This is currently considered NOT possible. Can we see pictures of the hen? She is most likely split white white eye instead of dark pied.

Dylansmom, the picture of your peacock in post #704 and what I can see of his train in my opinion and my definition is not a loud pied. Although he has pigment in his train, not 100% white eyes are visible. In one respect any peacock with 100% white eyes in his train could be considered "loud". I degress tho with the striking appearance-background that makes the eyes so noticeably visible vs. an all white background.

Now we are getting somewhere! This "dark pied hen" was sold to me by a local hatchery. I wanted 2 silver pied hens and they only had 1, but they said this dark one was out of 2 silver parents so she would have the same genetics. She does have a couple of white feathers on her back (not many 3 or 4), white flights, 1 white crest feather and a white throat latch. I don't know how good my pics are, I'll see what I can find. In these pics she is in with a male who is marked almost the same as her, they were paired up for 2 years and they produced all white chicks during that time, but I did not incubate all of their eggs, so who knows what those would have been.
