DylansMom, Note I changed my previous post. I said it would probably be split pied white eye and I meant split white white eye. Have not had enough coffee yet.

I am guessing they told you a story or had their birds mixed up. If it truly came from two silver pied parents it would have to be dark pied white eye. It still would not produce white birds in any mating.

WHAT???? You mean a hatchery might actually stretch the truth a little in order to make some money???? Wink Wink

See my rambling pied genetics query is kind of pertinent to the Thor/a debate, in a round about way.

So what I probably have in this hen is a IB split white and split white eye, is that correct? I would like to get as many pied(silver or loud) chicks out of her as possible, to do this the best pairing would be putting her with the pied in the picture, a silver pied, a dark pied or a white???? And by the way, thanks so much for taking the time to go thru all this with me! Mindy

No problem.

To get what I call loud pied, which I think are the prettiest birds the resulting chicks need one white gene, one pied gene and only one white eye gene.

Covering the white eye part is easy. Just have either the male or female be full white eye and the other have no white eye genetics. That way the chicks have only one white eye marker. The pied and white are a little harder but not so much in IB. Use a white bird for the male or female and a dark pied for the opposite sex and all chicks will be loud pied.

To get silver pied you need both parents to be white eye.

hen or cock?

hen or cock?

is the pied hen or cock?

how many of these birds are hens?

same here how many hens?

and again. hens or cocks?
All are peahens except the one male in the 2 photos second from last with all of the peahens. The two at the bottom because I know you're going to say look just like Thor there is still something that I must point out with the two. Neck feather shape isn't correct. Not the same as Thor. My dad tells me that I have a male and female and he doesn't really care I had him read all the pages and posts and he said the two are opposite sexes from you're guys info. Also I have a surprise that rather people will deny or some people might own up to it that will cause this parade to come to a close.

If you zoom in on it it's really blurry most likely. That feather is from Thor that I cut off with my knife yesterday. From his neck. I got $5 that some one will say that's a peahen feather or it's not from Thor's. Well guess what I compared it to my IB male feather and is almost identical except size of course and it's a male, and it came from Thor.

Which one of these photos are from a hen and which one is from a peacock, these feathers came from birds the same age as Thore, i took them on
Sorry can't see much in your photo it looks blurry to me

#1

#2

Sorry I have tried both digital and cell phone. They are all blurry when I'm on my laptop. #1 looks like the males to me. I'm guessing #1 because of the shape of the center feather looks male to me. The #2 is hen.
