Where are you keeping the chicks? I try not to hatch chicks much. I don't like worrying about them so much so I got into letting my peahens raise their own chicks.

No I mean are you keeping them inside under a heat lamp? You aren't keeping them on the ground right? Many people say to keep them off of the ground when they are young just incase so they don't get sick from anything. Sometimes I think peachicks will just die. I had a year where a few of them died and they were eating and drinking and they were inside. I am not sure what happened. I have also had them die when I was on vacation and my parents were taking care of them so that also made it a mystery.

I keep them in the utility room under a heat lamp for about 5 weeks, that is until I found them perched on the shelves out there. Then I out them outside in a coop and fencing. It was summer so they kept warm. When they were 2 months old I moved them to their own large building with a covered fencing around it.

I was under the impression Bird was holding both of the peachicks feet with toes outstretched with his fingers trying to uncurl them. Yes if the toes are held in the correct position long enough they will straighten but I misunderstood his procedure thinking he was just constantly uncurling them.

With respect to everyone, I think the best way to deal with the toes is to tape them or make shoes for them, then they can spent the most of their day doing what chicks should be doing, eating, drinking, sleeping, pooping and staying warm.
