She is also missing her barring, her blue neck , her big spur bumps, her baby train, lets see what else is she missing as far as a peacock goes.

+ missing color on her breast
+ missing color on her face

Why can't you just love Thora for the pretty, sweet girl that she is?

My laptop isn't showing this photo blurry but that looks identical to a young male train feather. This is Thor's train, I'm finding feathers now from the back and shoulder.

You are concentrating on tiny details. Sexing peafowl is not about just a few barred feathers = a peacock. I have adult peahens with a few feathers that have barring. As Zaz and other people's photos show, peahens can have some barring in their trains. My peafowl develop about as fast as yours do. My yearling peacocks will not have any eye feathers. It isn't until 3 that they have a really nice train. At two they might have1 or 2 train feathers by the way. I even had some peachicks that were growing extremely slowly because of too much competition for food. I feel bad that they had stunted growth, but even though their growth was stunted, they got to growing once I focused on giving them lots of treats and making the other birds back off. Both of them ended up being peacocks, and both even as birds younger than Thor you could tell they were peacocks because of the barring. Therefore even when they grow slowly, the barred feathers still come in and should all be in by now. Once a peacock is two or three, the barring will look even cleaner and prettier with some blue or green shine in it.

Why do I get the feeling that until Thor is 2 or even 3 years old then it will finally be said that Thor is indeed a peahen?

Maybe or maybe when he's around nine months. Rather an egg will be laid or there will be a train. What about the blue breast how old are your peacocks when his breast is completely blue. Colbolt was 2 years old, though of course there are those that doubt that but they can believe what they want.

It does not matter when our peacocks breast turn blue/green/black yours ain't never gonna be that color it is cream and white for that pretty girl.
You can believe what you want but we know for sure

At that age my peacocks would not have a fully colored in chest, but it certainly would be close to being fully colored in. The feathers would be blue/black speckled all over the chest. Not little speckles but big fingerprint sized or larger circles and ovals of color. The edges of the train feathers will be getting a little color.

You honestly think this 9 month old bird will actually lay eggs this summer or develop a train? I don't know what you have been reading(evidently not enough here) but even at 2 years old a hen maybe only will lay 10 eggs or so But a coming 1 year old hen,you may get lucky and find one or two smaller eggs but chances are they won't be fertile. It really depends a lot on how early in the spring she was hatched, April-May hatched birds lays more eggs at 2 years old,(not one year old) compared to if they hatched in August or September. It's her third year she will kick into high gear with laying an egg every other day pretty consistently. And a train? At a year old this spring or summer the train will maybe only be somewhat longer than a fully matured hen at 3 years of age if Thora is only going to be one year old. The statements your making here suggests you have came here with a Ph.D in animal avian science when really you should be absorbing what people here have told you. You have only 1-2 colors of Peafowl and you are very young in age. When you have several colors, with different patterns to observe while they mature and have done that for many years then your findings would be more valid I'm by no means an expert at all areas of peas but that's why I come here. I know what to breed to get what combinations I want but the actual genetics is slowly sinking in. I've spent tons of cash on my birds and facilities that easily could have been spent on things much more beneficial to me and my family. But everyone has hobbies in their lives and raising Peas here fulfills a summertime "niche" for being outdoors and actually seeing the fruits of my work. It's very clear to me you neither respect the opinions given to you here, nor seem to care. So what was your point in starting this thread? That your tunnel vision is superior to decades worth of experience being given to you here? Or that you think your a superior member of a debate team that will take one of two sides in an argument and never admit they chose the wrong side of the fence to be on?
"Those who need help sexing peafowl" I've asked this before but it is you who needs help? not so much the members here. You can sex peachicks at 1 day of age so this spring I think we should open a thread here. Day old peachicks of all colors can be submitted but they must be wingbanded at the time the pictures are taken to prove they are the same bird all throughout the growing season. I hatch upwards of 40 peachicks a week, sometimes more so the only thing different for me is to band these chicks at a day old instead of waiting a few weeks. It will then be easy to see if you actually know what you say you do,,and I will take several pictures of different areas of each peachick to post here for you. I have my suspicions as to what your results will be but just as I had to do in Livestock judging in FFA,,we had to give reasons for our placings. So,you up for a real challenge?
One more thing to make this interesting,,we won't say what color the peachicks are. Since your well versed you should have no problems knowing Cameo from Peach,Blue from Bronze and Purple.
