Those who need help in sexing peafowl

You should never tether period! Even if it's one leg they can still try flying because they "forgot " they were tethered and the leg can pop out. That is not the peas fault. They are too strong and it wont be an accident because you were warned. I was in. 4H for years and now I'm a 4H poultry leader....never have we asked to do this to birds being shown. I am sorry you don't understand as much as you think you do. Good luck in the future.
 
Birdrain - You seem to miss the point.
Everyone here has really tried to be helpful to you, which nobody would have done if they just wanted you to leave! It seems more like you'd be happier if the rest of us left, so nobody would contradict you anymore.

I think the real risk in tethering is that they can damage an artery that goes to the liver? Maybe not the liver, but I read somewhere (sorry, can't remember where), but tethering or hard falls can cause damage to an artery and they bleed internally, to death.
