Though Times - The great duckling flood of 2022

Just two months in, and they are almost grown up ducks! Here they are, checking on my newly created strawberry patch:

They do! - That is why i need to fence in the area. As a temporary fence i will hook up some polywire. A real Fence will be built during the Winter...

For everybody who's wonders what has happened to the six baby mallards that Missus Mallard has raised here in the duck-yard: They are still here, enjoying duck-pellets and the pond. Missus Mallard herself seems to have left towards a warmer climate…

I don't know for sure: At first she disappeared and left her six ducknagers, who were not able to fly, behind at the pond. Then after a week, suddenly there were ten mallards. I have no clue if Missus Mallard has left for the south and the other four ducks are juveniles from another clutch; the female mallards all look the same.
So far i have identified two drakes and seven ducks. The drakes have started to grow their beetle-green feathers at their heads. And then there's duck number 10: I have no clue about her gender. The plumage of her body says drake, but the head says duck and like all mallards (s)he is very quiet, i have neither heart her quacking nor rasping.
I hope its not a weird transgender duck!
