Thoughts on an email I received...

SCAM! he is using small ticket items on purpose. he will most likely offer you a much larger amount in a check and have you 'make change' on a fraudulent check, wiping out your account and giving you a problem. we had someone try this with a horse we were selling at a low price. he tried to give us $1000 'extra' if i would cash the check from out of state of course.

i get weird stuff EVERYTIME i list on craigslist.

i love craigslist, but i cannot stand the emails i get from the psychos. my favorite is when someone tries to 'show' me what i am really looking for or how i 'should sell it on ebay', and OF COURSE they are just trying to help me. um, did i ask them?

report that stuff!

Probably because it IS a high end ticket item.

And if someone is selling a car, there's a good chance they're desperate to unload it quickly, and won't think about the possiblity of being scammed.

that is really freakin weird. the way it is worded just makes me uncomfortable. and that someone would come to you to pick them up, yadda yadda like that. odd. its a scam. i cant stand people who try to take advantage of nice people like you! ugh.

Well it is nice to know that Mr. "Nigerian Businessman" is alive and well and learning how to spell in English.

Strangely, I never see anyone prosecuted for this type of crime. Are these scams even investigated?

YUP,, chris wallace on t.v. did it a few times,, even went to nigeria,, but there is almost NEVER any charges brought against them cause of all the "red tape". they even do it through our JAILS here in the u.s. guess it took our criminals a while to learn the basics.

i had to close my yahoo account and move to gmail, and that has helped control the- Mrs. S, you have a long lost dead relative who wants to give you a bajillion dollars- emails. i only get them like twice a year now. but i always report them to the abuse center, and they investigate and close that specific email account. if everyone would report these, at least the guys would have a hard time keeping email addresses.

the best way to tell is the spelling and grammar. that first paragraph is one sentence. Good riddance.

after a while, they start sending them from " mailer demon could not deliver your mail" ,, they think you will think you sent something to someone, and it didnt go through, and they just KNOW if you get a glimps of their story,,,,, we have 4 million dollars for you, and you only have to give us half" that we would all JUMP at it,,, lol
