Thoughts on Universal healthcare

You can already get that. I have used health care without having any insurance for years. I go to the clinic and I pay CASH. I know...radical concept.

Have you saved up enough to cover a kidney transplant, or an appendectomy??
You can not plan every surgery or illness. I pay an average of 10K a year to take care of my DD, who, by just the luck of the draw has Lupus with kidney involvement, that hit her at age 5. By the way, she was always well cared for, well fed up to date on all health checks. It is NOT always a person's fault when they get sick.

So how should I save for the day she needs a $300K kidney transplant? Please let me know, how you would do it? I really want to know how, because it would be a best seller!!

May you be lucky enough to never get genuinely sick!!!

why are there 2 people arguing on here? Its a DEBATE folks...and the only issue I see on here is that there are some certain folks that cannot handle what others opinions are and must be rude and resort to personal attacks.

Stop and grow up a bit, put your big girl and boy pants on and talk like civil adults. If you're going to get mad, then direct that anger at your Congressman, Senators and Governors - they are the ones who write the bills for your state! Not us...

Its gonna get locked...

I'm sorry for injecting a dose of reality into your Republican world.

I'm a Republican. I kind of resent that. Try dealing with something really catastrophic without big brother. Your self esteem may grow, and your veiws may change.

i dont want Universal Healthcare....even though my healthcare is running out soon*hubby is laid off of work* i still dont want it...its another way for the govt. to control us...

Do you realize that part of the reason your medical cost, including insurance, are so high, is because of the uninsured using 'free services ' form these ers and hospitals. You are still forking out your hard earned money to cover these people, it is just more subtle.
I have good insurance, and last year had to be addmitted for a week, I still had to pay over $10,000 out of pocket. If I had gone in with no insurance, yes they would have still helped me, but who do you think would be paying for it? Nothing is free, we need to look at the whole picture.
If we adapted a universal health system, everyone who earns an income would pay a tax supporting it, yes we would pay for those not working also, there are down falls to any system, but atleast you wouldn't have price gouging from Drs. and insurance companies. I also think that those who have the money should also be able to enjoy private insurance if they like, that would be above and beyond what they pay in for the other health system.

exactly!

and yes, I do realize that re: the hospitals; the reason I stated that is because another poster commented that there was no treatment for sick children and the child that died in FL due to an infected tooth. Yes there is... if your child is THAT sick or if you are that sick - go to a hospital, they will treat you.

There is no easy answer to this epidemic in our country..there just isnt. There are people on both sides of the fence and those that tow the line. I still say there should be mandated oversight and across the board costs that remain the same for services, not varying from doctor to doctor. THAT would be a start to this huge issue we have in the US.

It figures. Somebody doesn't want to hear the opinions of others so they make it political to try and get it closed.

the child that died with infected tooth was NEGLECTED by parents..its as simple as that folks..sorry..even if i HAD to pay monthly bills..i would not let my sick child die...

This is a touchy subject, and you should not single out 2 people when a lot of people are being very condescending with thier comments.

its only touchy if you take it personal dear

You and the other guy attacked others opinions on this subject and therein, you made it personal. Why? We could say the same thing - that because we have healthcare we're being attacked and having condescending comments made, but... I guess I'm not looking at it from that angle, but I can understand from yours I suppose, you're dealing with a sick child.

I know what you're going through as do many of us on here that have posted as well as those that are not posting but reading this thread. I have Lupus myself, so I can sympathize and empathize with you and I pray for your daughter, I'm sorry she has this awful disease.

I honestly do not see where anyone you're referring to has been rude or condescending in any manner. It tends to get personal when you are smack dab in the center of a situation, especiallly when it involves your child - we understand that... trust me.

Hugs to you and prayers as well. Where there's a will, there's a way dear.
