Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

I'm thinking about getting up early to check what you all write after I go to sleep, so that when I get back 5 hours later, there will only be 25 pages or so! It took me AN HOUR to catch up after lunch today. I tried to check in during break on my computer at work, but its such a dinosaur it couldn't handle BYC

Looks like an hour and 20 minutes + or - tonight. Not bad. Got time to fetch dessert before checking the eggies one last time, bringing the dog in and getting a nice, hot bath. Lavender candles, privacy and steam. Ahhh.

I spent my day kneeling in icky slimy mud, weeding. Love my job, but I've got weeding burnout.

Weeding in Washington? Sounds kinda like a cold job to me.

Hi! This thread moves so fast I can't keep up!

Hi Christine!

It's hard to keep up with, but it keeps me from candling my eggs 20 times a day.

Almost there QJ. Maybe I should mark mine, but then, I'd have to go candle them and mess with them, and I usualy don't mess with them much.

I admire you though.

I'm going to mark mine from now on. I love seeing the progress. It's amazing. I wouldn't have noticed as much if I hadn't marked it.

qj, I just got back online. Your gooses will creep up the back (which should be on the bottom of egg) when internally pipped. If you look at the pic I showed you, you can see how it is dark on bottom past my day 21 line. Then the tip of the beak should appear in the top side of egg. If fat end facing you, it should be on right side.

Marty, Thanks for the offer. They are cayugas, not khakis, though.

I don't have crayon... or unscented candle... or food wax. I can buy some tomorrow, if you guys think it would make a difference to seal the crack. It would be hard as it has the crack AND the dimple, which looks like a reverse external pip, if that makes sense.

Bakin, how's it going???

Thanks all for the compliments. Hubby continues to work hard on improving the pens and that room. He appreciates your comments!

That doesn't take long! At home, I'm a cake lady, organic market gardener, and egg lady. At work I'm food service manager, and our school has a hoop house that I seem to spend a lot of my spare time in weeding and watching over. (Although our kids at school are awesome little weekers, planters, waterers, composters, and veggie puller/pickers) It take a long bath to get the mud out from under your nails!

we have an old pedistal tub, and man its perfect for a nice deep soak. Its mama sized..... Enjoy the bubbles. I'm about to write down what page we are on, and hit the hay.

I see the one pushing on the back of the egg. I'm so flippin' excited. And the air cell dropped more from 5pm to now. ( _ ) Like that.

Amazing.

I love Pekins! My favorites among all the ducks I've had since I was a kid (Pekin, Blue and Black Swedish, Welsh Harlequin) have been Pekins. I like them all, but the Pekins just seem to have more personality than the others. My last Pekin figured out that our Golden Retriever was scared of him. The dog would lay down when she saw him coming and look at me like she was saying "help!" while the duck climbed on top of her and grabbed her fur. Golden Retrievers are very sweet, but are NOT the smartest of dog breeds.

Mine too! Very sweet personalities, and not near as neurotic and scared as those silly Khakis! We love the pretty white feathers. We pick them up and make cat toys.... (hot glue feathers on a piece of twine, with a bead over the ends, tied to a stick. We go CAT fishing with duck feathers!)
