Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Morning all, tried to post last night but kept getting server error messages so gave up.

Lets see if I can share a picture this morning.

These are thanks to Iain and her hubby. Need to finish the back walls on two so they can be filled up. The cabinet is at the end of the center isle with two more brooders on the left. The cabinet holds all of the meds,ID bands, heat lamp back up parts.

Sweetness!

I have no more time for another addiction. I gotta stick with the forum I've been on. (Since page 3.)

But now you've peaked my curiosity so I shall head over.

Sorry all I do not have any more time to start another thread ! I love this one because it is not just "ducks" or "geese" We hatch everything, and there are no boundries really here. I would never get anything done! Congrats on your goose forum ! but if you wanna chat I will be here & post pics & hatches.

SM: thats cool! how many bators do you have?

two. I have the LG still air that has chicken eggs in it. First batch should hatch right around March 13. Second next to hatch is some Pekins around the 18th. Then BEI to hatch around 28 along with some more Pekins and Runners. Breda Chickens to hatch around the 30. Then the 5 goosies that Celtic had a friend send to me should hatch around 29 to April 1. And there is a numch of Pekins staggered all through there

Man it's windy here today. I went outside and something fell on my head. Not sure what that was. Lol.

Also, I HAVE A SAXONY PIP!!!!

And I have renamed the goose Fiona. I was thinking she needs a majestic name fit for a princess. Since she will look like one when she's older. And then Shrek came on the tv.

So she will be Fiona, and her mate that I don't have yet will be Ferdinand. (not shrek..)

I have a duck named Fiona. She's awesome.

Congrats to everyone who had good hatches! Love those little fuzzy butts!

I'm hoping to improve my next try and have a few questions. First, what does everyone think of misting the eggs every day? I didn't do that, but the eggs developed through day 26 before dying. I've heard that it simulates the mother duck sitting on them after going in the water. Second, how does it affect the eggs differently when incubated in a still air or forced air incubator? Third, my incubation conditions worked right up until the end in a hovabator. Do you think moving them into something other than styrofoam for hatching would improve their chances? I have a homemade storage bin incubator, still air, that I got good results in when hatching chicken eggs. I can't keep buying eggs when nothing hatches...

I started misting mine on day 10. Not for any reason other than I had never thought of it before that point. Someone here mentioned it and it sounded like a good enough idea. I'll let you know my results this weekend. Quacks are due Saturday/Sunday.
