Incoming!!!

Little runner quack has joined the feed store crew! I don't know why, but I want to call this one "Walker."

so cute!!

Me too, otherewise, after shipping, it's gonna be a $40 doller baby. (It had better be a male, so I can spread that new blood around more!) I'm just forced to get chocolate turkey eggs where I can, in order to keep the bloodlines fresh. They are a bit rare. Still, It would be nice to have 2 $20 turkeys, or 3 $13.34 turkeys!

Here's some beak in egg pics. I admit when I took baby out this morning I moved away a little bit of shell on each because I wanted to be able to see little beaks. Yup, I'm one of THOSE. They are all moving in there, but I'm worried about shrinkwrapping. So six more active, one sloshy, one no longer moving (candled the unpipped ones), two moving but not pipped and one baby!

Sloshy is probably a stink bomb, right?

No doubt. Hubby was totally shocked at the price of hatching eggs. I had to explain to him that some breeds, you have no other choice but buy shipped eggs. I haven't seen a lot of hatcheries that carry some of the breeds I dream of. Then of course, you have to add diversity to the bloddline because inbreeding is not awesome.

The feed store babies were mean to little runner the first time I tried to put it in the brooder. They should only be 3 days apart at most. So I made little baby sleep in the bator overnight to be sure of its safety. Little one integrated itself this morning (was in a tupperware in the main brooder and escaped). Runner baby is a feisty one and will be just fine!

And if you want them from good breeding stock you need eggs, and hatchings half the fun so.... My next eggs coming are turkey's, so I won't be hearing any complaining about them of course.

the membranes still look pretty soft and moist (from the pic anyway), mine were pure white and leatherly looking! i hope they come out ok for you!
