Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Nothing on bobby yet. I'm going to bed. I sure hope he will be OK over night....

Hoping Bobby is out of his shell when DG wakes up. You get too freaked out DG calm down he will do what he has to do.

QJ did you say that you already shipped my goodies out? If so, I haven't seen it yet.

I just order 5 Toulouse goose eggs. What am I going to so with them now.

I also bought some Anacona eggs. Geez I have to stop this.

Hello, my name is Cindy and I am addicted to buying, incubating, candling and hatching eggs. I have a probllem and can not control myself. I think I need special help.

Morning all, crashed early last night and slept very soundly. Woke to more ducklings hatched and the next Sebastopol externally pipped. Two more Sebbies are deeply shadowed as of this morning, so they aren't far behind.

DG, hope you got some sleep and that bobby made some progress for you.

I know to stay outta the bator

I have one egg this morning, that I can see visibly moving the shell, but he has not externally pipped. I assume this means that he is working on externally pipping?
None of the others eggs are showing any signs of movement, and since I am in "lockdown", I am scared of opening the bator to check on them by candling. Should I not do this at this point?

Can i please ask if you incubated the eggs or if the mother was left with them. I have a mum sitting for the last week and am not sure if i should seperate her from the others when it gets closer to hatching time

Thanks

Srbenda... yes, you can. Hopefully your bator is in your bathroom? If so, you can run your shower to steam up bathroom and do a quick candle. Humidity only really becomes a major issue when they externally pip and expose themselves to the outside air. Another trick is to use a steth if you have a basic styro bator set up. You can place the steth on the viewing window. Once internally pipped, the ducks will establish breathing and sounds like a faint "click click" noise. It is too soft to be heard at first by normal hearing, but a steth picks it up easily. If you have a bunch of ducks internally pipped, it sounds similar to popcorn in the microwave.

Good luck!!
