The whole pull the tail away from the vent and then pushing in as you pull outward towards the sides of the bird. A not so detailed short wrap up of how it's done here of course.

I am debating on making one FINAL duck egg purchase.... another batch of cayuga eggs. Pidgey's eggs are really in trouble. I only had 4 develop to begin with, all with bad air cells. Now it looks like one is growing, but is stuck to side... and another may have quit. UGH!!

I have emails sent out to 2 different cayuga egg sellers. We'll see if they have anything available. On the bright side, I have an ancona overload in the making with 23 developing in bator.

Two questions that I hope you guys can answer.

1. Can a female duck show first voice changes at 5 weeks? I have a cayuga that I thought was a boy, but in the past few days, he has been getting louder and more of a whistle sound instead of the raspy sound of the other 2 boys.

2. Anyone ever have a developing embryo stuck to side of shell? Will it hatch ok? I have a cayuga on day 15 that I think is alive, but stuck on side.

1- yes you can get the random early quACK happening.
2- yes, and no it did not hatch. However did not progress past day 12 either.

Baby is still napping here. 3 Sebbies externally pipped and talking smack as they race to hatch first.

DH just texted me, no new news. Darn Dr's are slower than molasses on a cold winter day.

I'm having connectivity issues... and I stayed up WAY too late last night. 3 yr old was having bad dreams and some coughing. She ended up in my bed and... well, ya know how good you sleep with a 3 yr old beside you. (eye roll)

My friend Dwayne is bringing me turkey and goose eggs to hatch for him. Never done turkeys before. So you turkey ppl get ready. I'm assuming it's the same as a chicken.

Yes I have vent sexed all my ducks and have been successful at all of them except this one. I have been so confused on it. I have always thought it was a girl until people started saying it was a drake because of the head color. So I would vent check again, no pee pee. I have looked and Looked and looked, NO PEE PEE.
