Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Yep, ebay. Yep, probobly dupped. Oh well. Still wanna trade some eggs in May?

Uno can't hug a tree yet, but he'll maybe fly into one oneday. Or sit in the shade under it, almost as good! LOL

But if I catch him smoking behind a tree with his buddies, he's in trouble!

Defiinitely still want to trade some eggs!!!

I was reviewing my hatching calendar... and realized my goslings turned 3 weeks old today. I thought I'd share a couple of pics to celebrate the occasion.

Awww they are so cute!

Very nice!

I would be happy to.
I only candle at 10 days, and then I toss clear ones. Good ones should be dark. That's all I can see to do, although mine forget to spot a lot of their eggs and I can see in the plain white ones good, but not the blue.

Do you want some of my eggs in May too Julie? Or just wanting Jumbo?

Yes, she's gonna be problem mama. Sometimes they weird out the first time. She might be cool next time. I'd definately watch her like an old hoot owl.

Has this ever happened to anyone.... I have a Scobie mama on her eggs an today a baby started to hatch she kicked it out of her nest... i tried to move it closer to her only cause the baby was drying out fast and I mean FAST (i live in AZ and today its a dry 87 degrees outside) so I couldn't take it any longer I brought the duckling in and put him in the brooder misted him with warm water and he finished his hatch he seems healthy but I don't know why she didn't want him? I'm really puzzled this is her first clutch and her first egg that has hatched.. will I have to worry about the rest?

Probobly the same knowledgable person I nominated. The more, the more likely to be successful.

Don't forget social/kindly/friend people. Or the general one-spirit. For good friend/knowledgable combo.
Marty, I wondered how people got awards on the site. Thanks for the link. I too nominated a special person for the educator award.

9 fluffy cute babies. 1 still in the incubator, giving him a few more hours but he was the last to come out of his shell so he's a tiny bit behind.
Going out today and seeing if I can get my 3 snowy's to quack. I've got a few real quacks from the magpies, just need the others to confirm if they are boys or girls.

Celtic, I understand that! I am convinced that Florida is way too hostile an environment for many types of animals. It is the same as me not wanting to have sebbies here in the northern mountains of Utah, but the black cayuga is ideally suited for my climate. Ironically, the cayuga seller also lives in central Florida. She also has very nice blue cayugas. Here is a pic of her blues:

And to those who garden.... I was so excited to see all my early blooming flower bulbs sprouting up this week!! Spring is in the air and I can't wait for gardening season to start.

Adorable, and I love incubator!

Very nice!

Wrong part quoted, lol. I would love to get some eggs from you when they are laying.

Julie - I'm getting in touch w/3 different KS Giants breeders. If they work out, you want a connection?

Also, yes, the baby turks are adorable. Uno is my first this year. Last year I had great success w/my fresh eggs. Lost that mail due to thanksgiving though, so I'm hoping Uno can restore balance to the flock. (besides, shipped eggs hatch bad sometimes)

If I can find someone close enough to pick up that would be great. If I can get some new stock and get mine laying and start hatching again I'd love to trade some quail eggs too.

Hey guys -

DO you know someone who is nice?

Knowledgable about any/all birds/fowl?

Is a great combination of both?

Please consider nominating them for BYC friend, educator, or spirit. I've nominated a very kind person, and a very knowledgable person. Lets all go recognize the folks who make us glad we come here.

Here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/483359/byc-recognition-awards-february-winners-announced

Lets show whos got that BYC spirit

Thanks! I forgot about these. Nominated some people awhile ago, but I've forgotten about it since the board change.

Evening all. Moved the most recent Sebbie and the African that hatched with it out to the brooder house today.

As of tonight we have two grey Toulouse hatched and drying, 3 more pipped large and resting.

2 Sebbie eggs and 2 African eggs set for lockdown this weekend. Just waiting for air cells to drop enough in them to get pips.

Ducklings are in various stages of hatching. Buff, Rouen, khaki and silver Appleyards. Most will leave Monday for the feed store.

Hubby would like to build the Khaki flock and the SA flock up to ten ducks each with 2-3 drakes per flock.

Buff saddleback Pomeranian goose eggs arrived today. 4 out of 5 have perfect aircells, 1 has a 2mm wobble. Great shipping and packing on them.

If I can find someone close enough to pick up that would be great. If I can get some new stock and get mine laying and start hatching again I'd love to trade some quail eggs too.
I would LOVE to pick them up. But, same state means next day delivery, if they are on our half. I ship duck eggs to my sister, just over MO border, and she gets them the next day almost always. Still a good hatch, no flights, no long waits.

Thanks! I forgot about these. Nominated some people awhile ago, but I've forgotten about it since the board change.

We have several people here who are worthy. Too bad we can only nominate 3 per month. I've got one spot to fill, but I'm waiting. They don't do it again until May, but the more who vote for same, maybe better their chances. I love the peacemakers and kindly souls who are so polite!
