Thread formerly known as Hatch day is today

Hiya Celtic! Happy to hear your next lot is coming along well.

Evening all. Moved the most recent Sebbie and the African that hatched with it out to the brooder house today.

As of tonight we have two grey Toulouse hatched and drying, 3 more pipped large and resting.

2 Sebbie eggs and 2 African eggs set for lockdown this weekend. Just waiting for air cells to drop enough in them to get pips.

Ducklings are in various stages of hatching. Buff, Rouen, khaki and silver Appleyards. Most will leave Monday for the feed store.

Hubby would like to build the Khaki flock and the SA flock up to ten ducks each with 2-3 drakes per flock.

Buff saddleback Pomeranian goose eggs arrived today. 4 out of 5 have perfect aircells, 1 has a 2mm wobble. Great shipping and packing on them.
How much would it cost to ship me 2 female SA?

Still, as day olds I can't ship two, too rough of a trip. I could most likely do 4 as new babies. Or two as juveniles. But the box fee and shipping is high. Box will be between 25-30 and shipping will be atleast 40,

Do you still think you'll have any colored sebs this fall? I assume I can keep them w/the other sebs I may get. Is 1/2 an acre private garden & grass enough space for 4-6 sebs? If I get a pair of matched shipped from you, I'll certainly isolate them for breeding purposes. (What colors are likely possible?)

The Silver Appleyards... Thought I had 2 boys and 2 girls. Now I'm not so sure...

Fiona and the babies. She is still VERY tame and will follow me everywhere. I hope that continues!

I suspect the girls are wanting to lay in this bush. This was Rosalee's favorite spot last year.

SO PRETTY!! and Fiona looks so sweet

She died. I think she had problems with her brain. She was twitching and shaking all the time.

sorry

Here's another pic from the cayuga seller, for those who like magpies. This is her magpie breeding pair.

ahhhhh i need more room!

Just found two dead babies out in the coop. They both hatched on the same day (March 9th). No blood, just looks like they laid down and died I guess? What could have happened??

sorry

I have two pekin/buff eggs to hatch next Tuesday. I am so nervous. They are our first eggs hatched on our farm. We are also hatching chickens tomorrow. Whew, I can hardly wait

Hey everyone!
Just popping in to say that there was a note from hubby in my purse that a brand new hovabator 1588 and turner are on their way to me!!!
Don't know why he's being such a darn enabler. First hatching eggs, now somehwere to put them? I wonder if he realizes that he's just set himeself up to build a huge brooder?
He also put an eggs for sale ad on craigslist. Now I've got a woman wanting hatching eggs and I don't even know fertility yet.
Love my hon, but he makes me want to scream. If I managed to avoid buying the saxony hatching eggs, he could have held off on the mallard runners. I have this terrible fear of hundreds of ducklings and no homes for them.

nice new present

I was reviewing my hatching calendar... and realized my goslings turned 3 weeks old today. I thought I'd share a couple of pics to celebrate the occasion.

They are soooooo cute! they don't try to jump out of the brooder?

Awsome JOB!

Hey guys -

DO you know someone who is nice?

Knowledgable about any/all birds/fowl?

Is a great combination of both?

Please consider nominating them for BYC friend, educator, or spirit. I've nominated a very kind person, and a very knowledgable person. Lets all go recognize the folks who make us glad we come here.
